Very original concept with potential

:
Okay, first off, my hat is off to the developers of this app for coming up with such an original concept and a clever way to introduce the work of Salvador Dali to the world of mobile electronics and perhaps even a new generation of admirers.

I enjoyed this game, and found it a refreshing way to immerse myself (somewhat) in some of Dali's very intriguing pieces.

The app functions in two modes: One through which you can view the featured paintings, navigating around the canvas, zooming in and out for more comfortable viewing. The second mode is the game play and places soft pliable watch faces in secret locations inside the paintings. You simply have to navigate around the canvas until you find them and tap on them to progress through the game.

Both modes have their faults. In the first mode (the art display mode), while you can manuever the perspective through zooming and scanning across it, the performace was very poor on my iPhone (3G) and response was very slow. In the second mode, (game play), your viewing area is very limited to a zoomed-in perspective in which you can only scan across the painting surface. You cannot zoom out for a wider view. Perhaps this is by intent so it makes it more difficult to easily spot the watch faces. To its benefit, it definitely promotes a greater sense of awareness of the details of each piece and created for me an unexpected sense of immersion. But I think would have liked to have the option to zoom out for a wider view during game play....maybe I'm just nitpicking. Additionally, I found the intuitiveness of the game play to be lacking. There are pretty much no instructions to speak of, so the user is left to figure it out on their own.....How very Dali-esque...so maybe it is apropos (or APPropos?...(sorry that was tacky).

I also found the little navigation-actuator buttons to be pretty small and difficult to tap with precision. The equilibrium-compromising act of viewing the Dali pieces tended to exacerbate this challenge a little bit.

I also loved the music that accompanied the game play. It was perfect fit and I must give points to the developers for their audio selections.
Understandably, this is a self-described "Lite" application, and its limitations are evident. I personally wouldn't even know quite how to imagine where one would take Dali even further with a more complex or in depth app, but I am very intrigued at what these developers are doing so far.

And in the end, it's all about presenting the work of Salvador Dali, and as far as I'm concerned, the pieces really looked great on my screen, with true, vibrant colors and good detail.

Keep up the good work.

Interesting concept....

:
while the "gameplay" isn't very exciting, the overall concept of this app is really interesting. Especially for someone who loves art - it's a really great way to explore the paintings.

A few things. It took me a while to figure out that the "i" in the left side of the navigation menu was to get info on the paintings you were searching - might be better to start that screen when you ENTER the painting, and then it goes away.

Regarding gameplay - might be neat to hide the watches deeper within the painting, and you have to really zoom in to find them. This might make you dig around the painting more - however, it could get annoying.

Also liked the music that accompanied each picture - did NOT like the "win" music - it was too gameshowy/cheesy.

This could be fun if worked in conjunction with a museum - you could have several artists and works represented.

Overall, nice start for a fun and informative app.

great collection of Dali

:
cool to have all this dali on the iphone. the game is fun and progresses well, but having the paintings is the best function for me. the info on title, location, etc. is a great bonus.
